Jim Beckworth - Mountain Man
Michael Broughton brings to life 14 different characters in telling the story of Jim Beckwourth, an explorer and adventurer, born a slave in Virginia in 1798. Beckwourth was adopted into the Crow (Absaroke) Indian tribe and in 1850 he discovered Beckwourth Pass, the lowest mountain pass through the rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains. A city in Northern California was named after him and the Post Office issued his commemorative stamp in 1994. Broughton has performed this play more than 100 times around the country earning the prestigious AUDELCO award in New York City for best Solo Performance of the Year. All ages.
